Job Description: \n\nPrepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.\nEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS, DOE, and other regulatory bodies.\nCoordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors.\n\nAccounting Operations\nOversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed asset accounting.\nMaintain and improve internal control systems to safeguard university assets.\nSupervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability\n\nPolicy & Procedure Development\n\nDevelop and enforce financial policies and procedures that align with best practices and \ninstitutional goals.\nEnsure proper documentation and training for financial systems and processes.\n\nTechnology & Systems\n\nManage financial systems and software, ensuring data integrity and system efficiency.\nLead or support ERP implementations and upgrades as needed.\n\nBudgeting & Forecasting\n\nCollaborate with the VP of Finance and department heads to develop and monitor the annual budget.\nProvide financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic initiatives and long-term planning.\n\n\nJob Requirements: \n\nBachelorâs degree in Accounting, Finance, and a Masterâs or CPA required.\nMinimum of 7â10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in higher education or nonprofit sector.\nStrong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and federal compliance requirements.\nProficiency in financial systems (e.g., Ellucian, Workday, Banner) and Microsoft Excel.\nExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.\nMaintains absolute confidentiality and discretion in all matters related to the Office of Financial Affairs and associated areas of responsibility\nExperience with grant accounting and restricted funds.\nFamiliarity with endowment management and donor reporting.\nAbility to thrive in a mission-driven, collaborative environment.\nknowledge and skills\nHigh degree of tact, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and individuals\nAbility to work independently and with a team of colleagues\nAbility to set priorities and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment\nAbility to understand, interpret, explain, and apply rules and policies applicable to areas of responsibility\nStrong organizational and verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to prepare clear, accurate, and concise correspondence, records, reports, and other documents\nExpertise with Microsoft Office software applications, especially Excel
