E&I Technician Internship at our Coal Creek Station in Underwood, ND. Will assist with routine and emergency maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure a safe, efficient and reliable electric plant operation. The duration of this internship will be the summer of 2019 (May – August).
Coal Creek Station is the state’s largest power plant, featuring two units with a generating capacity of more than 1,100 megawatts. The fuel source for the plant is lignite coal, supplied by the adjoining Falkirk Mine. Coal Creek Station has been a top performer in several national rankings of power plants as it is one of the most reliable and cost-efficient in the country.
Perform calibration, predictive, and preventative maintenance on a variety of complex industrial electrical and instrument & control systems to ensure plant availability and to maximize efficiency
Provide E&I assistance on new and existing plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations
Assist in the completion of projects
Must be enrolled in college or completed curriculum from an accredited institution.
Must be enrolled in a two year associated degree OR within a Post-Secondary program.
Focus within electrical, electronic, HVAC/refrigeration or instrumentation and controls.
Have an overall GPA of at least 3.0

Essential Job Duties:
Conduct legal research utilizing a variety of methods.
Identify problem resolution alternatives and make recommendations to attorneys.
Prepare and ensure accuracy of legal documents.
Locate and assure availability of witnesses for trials, hearings and depositions.
Assist attorneys with trial preparation and preparation of trial materials.
Provide legal information through verbal and written means to staff and the public on matters as compliance with laws, procedures, status of cases, etc.
Provide training and guidance to other legal assistants and staff.
Organize workload to ensure all documentation, reports, and schedules are accurate and in proper form to assist legal staff.
Maintain a positive and productive work environment by effective communication, a professional manner and teamwork with the State’s Attorneys office, other departments and members of the public.
Apply appropriate general or specific guidelines to appropriate duty.
Job Qualifications, Experience and Education:
Must have a bachelor’s degree with a major in paralegal, legal assistant studies or pre-law and two years of paralegal or legal assistant experience that includes application of research and analysis to draft proceedings, discovery documents, motions, briefs and other legal documents. Work experience as a Certified Legal Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Must efficiently operate a computer with knowledge of word processing and Westlaw software.
Requires knowledge of legal terminology forms and files.
Requires a high degree of written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple duties and priorities under limited supervision.
Applicant will be subject to post-offer civil and criminal background check.
Working Conditions/Physical and Mental Demands:
Physical environment consists of a desk job in the standard environment. Some exposure to elements of weather if traveling to other counties in the regional jurisdiction.
Will include physical motions of finger dexterity for frequent use of PC keyboard and monitor, sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
May endure high levels of stress when required to appear before court with little or no notice, meeting standard deadlines, and dealing with irate members of the public.
