Q: How do I get started with Dakota Staffing Solutions?
A: You can get started by filling out an online application by clicking here. If your application fits our hiring needs you will be contacted by one of our office staff to set up an interview within 30 days.

A: No. You may also apply by coming into our office and filling out an application.

Q: What should I bring to my Dakota Staffing Solutions interview?
A: You will need to bring with you two forms of government issued identification when you come in to complete the application. Many applicants bring a drivers license, state ID or tribal ID and social security card or birth certificate. You should also bring a list of job references and a current resume if you have one.

Q: Are background checks or drug testing required?
A: Many of Dakota Staffing Solutions clients require background checks and drug testing for their assignments and if you choose to accept an assignment with them you will be required to have a background check and drug test performed.

Q: Will Dakota Staffing Solutions test my skills?
A: To ensure that you are the right candidate for a particular assignment, we may assess your skills utilizing a variety of computer based evaluations.

Q: How and when do employees get paid?
A: Dakota Staffing Solutions pays their employees every Monday for the previous week. Paychecks are done after 3:00 PM. Employees have the choice of a paycheck or having the pay direct deposited to their bank account. If you choose to have your pay direct deposited it will be in your bank by the end of the next day except if there is a bank holiday.

Q: Does Dakota Staffing Solutions charge employees a fee?
A: Dakota Staffing Solutions does not charge any fees to our employees for placement.

Q: Does Dakota Staffing Solutions only have temporary assignments and how long do the assignments normally last?
A: Dakota Staffing Solutions has a variety of placement opportunities in addition to temporary assignments. We also do Contingent-to-Hire, Direct Placement and Payroll Service. Assignments can last from 4 hours to months, or in some cases, even years depending on our client's needs.

Q: How do I find out what kind of assignments Dakota Staffing Solutions has available?
A: We try to post most of our jobs on our website; however we also post jobs on the North Dakota Job Service website and occasionally list jobs in various newspapers. You may also call in to our office periodically to check assignments that may not be listed.

Q: Who keeps track of my hours on assignments so I get paid?
A: You are given a timecard at the orientation time for each of your assignments. You keep track of your hours on a daily basis and total them up at the end of each week and have the client supervisor sign the time card to verify the number of hours worked. The time card must be received by the Dakota Staffing Solutions office no later than 9:00 AM on Monday morning in order to be paid on Monday.

Q: Can I go to work for a Dakota Staffing Solutions client that I'm assigned to?
A: If you are approached by a client that you are assigned to about working for them, please contact the Dakota Staffing Solutions office immediately and we will work out the details so you can transition over the client's workforce.

Q: What kinds of jobs are available?
A: We offer a large variety of assignments in many areas, including; office/clerical, administrative, accounting, bookkeeping, mining, power plant, oil industry, construction and more.

Q: How long does it normally take for me to get placed on an assignment?
A: It depends on the needs of our clients as well as your skills, marketability and availability. Many of our applicants are sent out on an assignment immediately after completing the application and interview process.

Q: What if I only want to work at a particular client of yours?
A: You need to tell us your preferences when you fill out your application and interview, however, if you limit your client choices you may also be limiting your assignment opportunities.

Q: What if I only want to be assigned to Falkirk Mine?
A: Candidates for Falkirk Mine need to either drop off, email, fax or mail a current and detailed resume to Amy Azure at the Dakota Staffing Solutions office. No application is needed to apply for Falkirk positions.

Q: What are the requirements to get assigned at a Power Plant?
A: DSS works with several power plants in the area. Most of them require OSHA 10 hour training, a current 10 panel drug test and clearance to wear a respirator. To apply, please come into DSS to fill out our application. If you have a resume, please bring it with you when you apply. All the power plants require steel toed boots.
